Counter-Strike PUGs

Next PUG Event

Weekly pugs ahead!

Counter-Strike is known to be one of the most influencal competitive game ever created, even 25 years after its original release. Various updates to the game, through different engines saw the light of day, but 1.6 is still being actively played by the community.

However the game received about 27 releases, from its beta stages up to the popular 1.6 release. While many maps stayed and are a classic among the community, many other maps were heavily revised, altered, or simply removed as they didn’t fit the game’s ideas.

Our goal is to rediscover and experience these long-forgotten maps in a modern competitive setting. Most Saturdays, we will plan some competitive games amongst these maps.

Frequently asked

Questions

Q) How can I sign-up for these events?
A) You don’t have to sign-up : first come, first served.

Optionally, if you’re a Discord user and would like to receive notifications for future games, you can join our Discord server and select the “Counter-Strike” role.

Q) Can I reserve a slot in advance?
A) No. The first 10 players to join will get to play.

You can also jump in as soon as a slot opens up, even if the game is LIVE. Our past experience shows that people often dont keep their commitments. Overall, accommodating personal requests tends to create disorder and chaos. We believe that implementing an automated system for PUG management is the best way to ensure the most hassle free experience for the most people in the long run.

Q) Are games recorded through HLTV? Do you share them after the matches?
A) Yes. The links to get the demos will be shared on Discord sometime after the last game.

Q) I suspect someone was a bit too random but knew everything about the game that he might have been cheating. What can I do?
A) Please write to us on Discord. We’ll look into the specific HLTV demo and check any abnormal behaviour. We’ll take action if we can confirm such anti-sportsmanship behaviour, as written on our community rules.

Q) Can No-Steam releases connect to the PUG server?
A) No.

Q) I want to join the event with a friend. Can you ensure we’re on the same team?
A) No. Again, we believe that accommodating individual requests like this can bring more problems than benefits.

If teams are formed by captains and one of you becomes a captain, you can choose the other as a teammate. If the selection is random, you might get lucky and end up together. The best advice is to encourage others to use the captain method for the team arrangement and then try to convince them to pick both of you. In other words, while we wont guarantee it, you can take steps to increase your chances.

Q) Do you accept all skill levels?
A) Of course, but we still strongly advise you to be at least slighlty familiar with the original CS 1.6 mechanics and movements to enjoy your experience best.

Q) I love CS, but im only keen on playing Dust 2 and Inferno. Can we have those maps?
A) Probably. If the events are successful and we have returning players each week, we may expand to older versions of CS, such as 1.1, 1.3, or 1.5.

The events in 1.6 aim to explore what the competitive scene could have utilised but hasn’t, such as the default maps from the games legacy that meet the theoretical criteria to be used in the competitive setting, but never had the opportunity. If we switch to an older CS for a particular occasion, that will become the focus, and we’ll use both mainstream default maps and popular custom maps like Tuscan or Lite.

Q) Will you include these unique maps from Counter-Strike Online/Nexon Studio?
A) Absolutely, at least for the exclusive maps! This is currently on our To-Do list.

Q) How about Dust PCG?
A) Dust PCG is indeed part of the official Dust map list, but it’s not in the game’s default content. We won’t accept it for now.

Q) And, how about these custom unofficial maps from the community?
A) It’s complicated. The CS 1.6 events are centered around the game’s default maps from all the primary sources, that’s also to include leaked files.

If we switch to older CS versions in the future, we’ll use the mainstream competitive maps and any custom ones that were actually part of the scene. In that case, we are also cool with including some niche options, as long as they have a competitive games link. Just keep in mind that filenames alone don’t cut it as proof, so don’t be misled. Otherwise, we’re open to anything that meets the criteria.
