After a 9 years-break, we are happy to announce that BaseQ is completely back on ZDaemon with a nice little list of servers for everyone!

A little bit of history…

For everyone who didn’t know, BaseQ got its popularity with ZDaemon, a Classic Doom multiplayer sourceport that not only emulates the classic Doom experience perfectly well, but it brings a lot of modern features, along with some customisation, allowing for some exclusive content for the port.

We were truly popular amongst ZDaemon players, thanks to our gameservers that were used competitively and casually every single day, but more particularily to our weekly events, the “FCT”, or “Frenchies’ Chaotic Tuesdays”, where we innovated every single week with never-seen-before gamemodes, some of them are still being actively played today. And, yes, all of these gamemodes we made were done in less than a week.

In 2015, we also moved to Zandronum, along with Odamex for some time before removing all of our servers from Doom, as our friends from Zero-Dawn Networks took our spiritual succession.

Bringing back pearls.

Fast-forward today. We are in 2024, and despite our absence, we were definitely not forgotten by the Doom community that still remembers our servers quite well. Since we still create and continue to make Doom mods in our free time, we took the perfect occasion to host again ZDaemon servers.

Right now, we hosted a mixed bag of content between competitive servers, French creations, and fun or rarely-seen-before mods. Please note that the current list is not final, and we are progressively increasing the amount of servers with trending mods, and community requests.

How about Zandronum? And Odamex?

We might have plans to host a few particular servers for Zandronum, but this is currently not a priority, as we are focusing on ZDaemon. However, we have no plans to host servers on Odamex.
