Seasonal closed, Gungame opened

I have decided to shut down the Seasonal server, as the community no interest for it. Oh well, at least porting the project was quite fun despite the small traction of the initial project. To compensate, I have opened up a GunGame server instead.

To make it more interesting to play on, the GunGame server includes the following :

  • You can vote the gamemode (Single, TDM, FFA) at the start of the game.
  • Spawns are fully randomized rather than being the classic.
  • The server uses one of the (currently) 6 unique weapon rotation presets once the game starts.
  • All 26 offensive weapons from the game are used.
  • Up to 50 maps are present inside the server, dynamically set according to the amount of players present in the server.

AIM / AWP / FY, anyone?

In addition to the GunGame server, I also thought of hosting a much more useful server for those who love to train on their aim by adding these maps and these maps only. Here are the settings of that server:

  • A map lasts 15 minutes, a round lasts 2 minutes.
  • Classic gameplay, no Deathmatch-style respawns.
  • Freezetime is set to 1 second.
  • Rounds restart after a second, instead of 5.
  • Teams are swapped every 5 rounds.

Right now, 20 popular maps have been set, and some activity has been seen every day for a whole week. More maps are to come, as finding good quality maps is quite like a treasure hunting…

Changes in the maplists

I have decided to change the entirety of the maplist in all Half-Life 1 servers, as I personally found the maplists had lots of small issues & inconsistencies amongst all 3 servers. As a result, I decided to make the following changes :

Free-For-All server

This server was previously having all sorts of content, but since it was a little too redundant over the Fun server (more below), I decided to change it and make it a more serious and structurated server.

That means that this server received a complete overhaul of the maplist, now having popular maps who have been played or are still currently set in the competitive environment.

Ex-Arcade – now FUN MAPS ONLY

Okay, this one was extremely difficult to set up, as I initially set up an Arcade server. But after some discussion about it, I decided to partially drop the gamemode, and instead add about 70 maps that I found really unique or fun. Needless to say, this is a must-play for those who just want to have fun.

Oh, and this is the go-to server for the weekly Happy Hour we do every Monday at 8PM on HL1 ! Think to join us !

Team Deathmatch

No real change has been made, other than rebalancing the maplist with maps better suited for TDM, especially when a few players are around.

General changes

  • The infamous bug of slippery surfaces ( rats ) when going outside of these zones is fixed.
  • The whole list of voteable CVARs has been rewritten and improved.
  • When typing CVARs that can be voted off to the server, the server now indicates on what value they currently are.
  • Added a new voting CVAR ag_random_spawns to control whether the spawns act like HL1 or HL25.
  • Fixed the Settings menu not appearing by default.
  • joinspectator userinfo key has a 2 value that does not add you to the arena queue.,
  • Added a new minimal FOV restriction (in order to be LLHL-compatible) that can be toggled on – this is NOT enabled by default!
  • agmap voting is now enforced by the maplist, preventing unauthorized maps to be selected.
  • New maps: bigred, battle_camp & birdlabs.

AG Training changes

  • Added a new option so that other players can hurt you.
  • Added more safety checks regarding entity limits.
  • Match starting is now blocked.,
  • Vote restrictions have been set.
  • Frag voting restrictions have been set.

Counter-Strike: Source (v34)

General changes

  • Added a method to make global bans or punish unwanted players.
  • Added !calladmin <reason> command to report issues to our moderation team in case of something wrong is happening ! However, any abuse will result in punishments or in some more severe cases, a permanent ban.
  • Forced mp_forcecamera to 1 to prevent some sniping.
  • Gamemode’s title has been rewritten, as we also do to our other GoldSRC servers.
  • Re-locked down the PUG server, as no-one really used it properly.
  • Updated the maplist to add a few more community favorites !

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (2023)

Removed FFA server, sadly for the better…

Since the recent updates of CS2, VALVe disabled the inventory system that was still reusable on CS:GO after some tricks. That update also made the alternate weapons (R8, USP-S,…) unable to be used as well.

As a result we had to disable the FFA server as it has no purpose anymore, until a new trick to reenable the inventory is found.
