Wait, what…?

Buzzybots? What the #!£$~ is this? Are we playing Counter-Strike with bots?

… Well, not really. In fact, I wasn’t really aware of it until very recently. And to make matters worse, there aren’t many content around about Buzzybots, so pardon me in advance if these informations are erroneous. It’s December, let’s just chill and play in unknown territories, alright? 🙏

As usual, there are at least a good amount of maps included in its official release, just enough to have plenty of fun for a few hours.

Of course, let me quickly say it in advance: yes, you will need Half-Life, and yes, we will add nosteam support to it! Hope you didn’t miss the Steam sales veeery recently…

So, what is Buzzybots ?

Buzzybots is a team-based Half-Life modification set in a unrealistic, cartoonish world about a wars regarding a specific “something” that enjoys watching wars between different robots. At least that’s what they say!

Oh, hell with it! You fight robots with robots, there’s no graphical violence, it’s fun, it’s really fast-paced, what else should we ask for?! 🙂

There are several classes, with different classes, movement styles, and utilities. After each round, you can buy a temporary upgrade that will be disabled upon a death.

There are also 2 gamemodes available:

• Blow up the Beacon where the goal is to touch the enemy beacon, and prevent the enemy from touching it again after 15 secondes to win a point ;
• Get the Super Chip where you basically capture a chip that’s on the middle of the map, and capture it on your base.

How to play with us

First of all: please do NOT download the one from Moddb ! If you did have installed it, it misses the binds that are unique to this mod. To correct this, please overwrite your buzzybots folder with that one, in order to change 2 files that bring back the actions menu that are missing.

Other than that, install this, and install it on your Half-Life folder (<yoursteamfolder>/steamapps/common/Half-Life) :

Then restart Steam. You should see BuzzyBots on your library:

Last thing: since it’s an old modification, let’s fix the mouse. Go to the properties of the mod, and add the following:

-noforcemparms -noforcemspd -noforcemaccel
