New FFA server for 1.6, and new maps for CSDM!

Greetings! We have pushed a new update of our Counter-Strike 1.6 servers. This includes new servers, as well as an improved maplist. And even more tweaks!

New servers served !

We are happy to announce we have created a new classic, FFA server, available at deimos.baseq.fr:21003 ! This server is 100% vanilla in its gameplay, no weapon mods or any kind of BS other servers may provide. The server contains 21 maps, from a competitive to a “fun” environment, while following up our BaseQ standards in terms of map quality. And the maplist may grow even bigger in the next few weeks!

This server also has VIP Happy Hours every Monday to Friday, from 6PM to 9PM! People will receive additional money in case they lose a round, as well as making sure they have. Don’t forget you can subscribe on Patreon, and get VIP access for $5/month! Tier 3 now have permanent VIP access.

Let’s not forget that these servers are made for everyone to have fun, but BaseQ also wants to create content from a serious competitive standpoint. We have always been that way since we created gameservers in 2013. We’ve thus teamed up with a known figure of the Retro-CS Preservation (who helps us finding out ideas for our weekly community events!) to propose you a Legacy-style PUG server, containing for the first time in CS’s history all revisions and forgotten maps of this classic game!

You can try the server at deimos.baseq.fr:21004. Please note, that 10 players are required to start a match.

New added maps for CS Deathmatch !

We have updated the maplist for our CS Deathmatch server, bringing the list to 24 maps! Here’s what we added:

  • de_belfry
  • de_azraq
  • de_hell
  • de_fact
  • de_rotterdame2
  • de_plaka
  • de_ancient_csgo

In addition to these maps, we have dynamically tweaked the maplist ; depending on the amount of players currently active, the maplist will give smaller or bigger maps. We believe this change won’t disorient players and will make their experience better.

Give it a try and tell us what you think!

Changes

We have slightly updated the settings of a few servers, so that people can jump in and have fun the moment they join:

  • We have improved the CS Retro server, by tweaking the bunnyhopping values. From now on, you shouldn’t have insane speeds after 3 jumps.
  • The starting amount of money has moved for $800 to $2000. VIP users will always start with $2000. This behaviour now happens in all servers, with the exception of the PUG server.

What about the other games?

We made some updates on our servers. Here’s the changelog:

Half-Life: Opposing Force

  • Slight server-tweaks.
  • Re-added support for NoSteam clients.

Quake 2

  • Upgraded the server binaries to the latest version.

Quake 3

  • Upgraded the server binaries to the latest version.
  • Attempted to fix a server issue related to DeFrag.
